Back in January we took the train to Paris to a Trade Show where we discovered many wonderful new products destined for the Spotty Herberts wish list.
These backpacks by ENGEL were top of our list and let me tell you why…
The colours are amazing, perfectly chosen for boys and girls, not to sweet and not too butch, just spot on. Add to that the fact that they are made from recycled water bottles and have some seriously groovy zips - reminiscent of some rainbow braces I loved as an eight year old and the striped elastic belt that fastened my pac-a-mac around my waist - they are darn fine backpacks!
The straps are wide, soft and strong so will sit comfortably on the shoulders. There is plenty of length for adjustment to grow with the wearer. There are top handles too, all straps are made of nylon but are soft and smooth to hold.
Each bag has a large label inside for name and all contact details. Inside the large bag there is also a pouch pocket at the back for separating and sorting.
The simple box shape is neat and strong with the chunky striped front zip cutting diagonally across.
There are two sizes; large: 26 x 11 x 35cm and small 22 x 7 x 28cm.
Big enough for holidays and adventures far and wide, for school books, a swimming kit or an overnight stay with a teddy out the top. These backpacks are thoughtfully designed and ethically produced from waste plastic. Brilliant!
“PET FABRIC is made entirely of recycled polyethylene terephthalate, or rPET for short which is carefully crafted into fine yarns. These yarns can then be woven, just like cotton, into a wide range of textiles and fabrics.
PET is a strong durable fabric and the manufacture and application is far less harmful to the environment.
The most common plastic waste is polyethylene terephthalate, or PET: the primary material used for almost all water bottles around the world. Billions of PET bottles are discarded each year, it is the biggest waste problem we face.
This makes rPET fabrics a fantastic choice for ENGEL Zippers!
There are no bio-based composites, it won’t rot or decay regardless of climate. The material is breath-able but can be washed.”
