Spotty Herberts is a shop for children, owned and run by good friends and mothers Kate Austin and Emily Ingram.
On moving to Bath and becoming mothers, talk began of setting up a shop and utilising our shared backgrounds in design and retail. Calling upon past experience gained in various roles - ranging from children’s art workshops and scenery painting to jewellery design and retail management - we opened Spotty Herberts in May 2014.
Props and references to our families’ love of the fairground, seaside holidays and trips to the woods, make Spotty Herberts a warm, welcoming shop for children aged 0-10 years. We stock playful unisex clothing by British designers such as Tootsa MacGinty, Bob & Blossom, Boys & Girls, Marmalade & Mash, Dandy Star and Milk & Biscuits, as well as a selection of carefully chosen, randomly presented, simple toys and treasures for pocket money purchases, birthday gifts and treats. We love to wrap them too.
This year, Spotty Herberts celebrate their first year on Queen Street in central Bath. Within our first year we were awarded the CWB National Retail Award 'Best New Children's Store'. In June 2016 we were nominated for and went on to win the Muddy Stiletto Award 'Best Children's Business' Somerset.
